International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare
Description
Registration and Housing is now live to the 10th Anniversary Meeting of the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare, to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, January 23-27, 2010. Plans have been underway for several months to bring you the best and most comprehensive program ever. With more than 32 CEU hours available, IMSH2010 is the premier educational meeting for professionals in the field of simulation.
The Planning and Scientific Committees have revised and expanded the number of categories from three to five to reflect the evolution of the simulation field. The expanded five categories are:
1. Education, Competency and Assessment 2. Patient Related Outcomes, Research in Simulation, Including Patient Safety 3. Impact of Simulation Context and Physical Setting 4. Human Factors-Oriented, Simulation-Based Research 5. Emerging and Innovative Methods and Technology
“At the Threshold of a New Frontier” The 10th Anniversary of IMSH presents a variety of educational opportunities, including:
Pre-Conference Workshops (formerly Post Graduate Courses). Get a head start on your CEU and conference experience by attending the Pre-Conference Workshops. Select the workshop that best fits your educational need from the total of 14 available - 7 offered on Saturday afternoon and another 7 offered on Sunday morning. Space is limited and separate registration is required.
NEW Immersive Courses: Experience Simulation In the spirit of forging new frontiers, IMSH is proud to introduce Experience Simulation. As part of the new Immersive Courses offered for the first time at IMSH2010, these high-energy sessions will offer participants hands-on experiences through immersion in simulation scenarios. Lead by a team of expert faculty from multiple disciplines and organizations, Experience Simulation strives to model best practices in simulation-based education. These workshops offer an intimate setting for a small group of participants to have an introduction to key concepts of simulation-based learning encounters. Each session, which will be repeated, will be led by multidisciplinary teams from the SSH Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Participants will receive scenarios and other course materials to take back to their institutions after the session. Space is limited and separate registration is required. Space can only be reserved through your paid registration, so act NOW!
NEW SimWars Sessions … An exciting new program for IMSH! Watch your friends and colleagues on specially selected multi disciplinary teams and cast your vote for the best team and winner of the coveted SimWars designation!
After this session, participants will be able to: 1. List the components of a simulation-based learning encounter 2. Discuss the advantages of simulation-based learning based on their personal experiences during the session 3. List steps for the implementation of simulation-based learning at their home institutions 4. List the elements of effective teamwork and communication
We will again offer Expert Panels where 2-3 speakers create a living discussion on a body of research about a particular topic
Roundtables: Each Roundtable is a moderated session of hot topics in the field of simulation during which attendees will discuss a specific aspect of simulation. The 90 minute sessions are designed to generate energetic discussions among attendees interested in a mutual topic.
Workshops: Interactive and hands on sessions designed for participants an opportunity to learn and apply new knowledge and principles. Attendance is limited in order to create an optimal learning experience for participants.
Our Keynote speakers will enlighten, entertain, and inspire you!
We anticipate a record-breaking attendance as IMSH celebrates its 10th Anniversary, and we look forward to welcoming you to Phoenix in January.
Please note: Cancellations are subject to a $100 cancellation fee if submitted in writing prior to January 10, 2010. There will be no refunds available after January 10, 2010.
